About Go Green in the City Challenge 2019

Schneider Electric is leading the Digital Transformation in Energy Management and Automation With a global presence in over 100 countries, Schneider Electric is inviting students from around the world who are willing to put their skills and ideas for Go Green In The City Challenge 2019, The winning team will win job offers from Schneider Electric, and an all-inclusive international trip to 2 cities of their choice (where Schneider Electric has offices).

Eligibility Criteria for Go Green in the City Challenge 2019

  1. An applicant must be older than 18 years and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (at least 2nd year) or Master’s student.
  2. The applicant must be proficient in English (the Grand Finale pitch will be presented in English).
  3. Applicants must be Studying Engineering, Business, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, and other Sciences.
  4. In a team of two members, At least one team member must be a Female.
  5. Team members must be studying in the same Region for the duration of the competition. However, They are not required to be from the same university,
  6. Schneider Electric’s customers, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, and their respective employees, officers, directors, representatives, agents, consultants, contractors, and their family members are not eligible to participate.

1st Prize

The winning team will win job offers from Schneider Electric, and an all-inclusive international trip to 2 countries of their choice (where Schneider Electric has offices).

Global finalists

The Top 8 teams are going to be invited on a totally sponsored trip to the Schneider Electric Global Innovation Summit in Barcelona to pitch for the Grand Prize. & a call for participation in interviewing for Schneider Electric’s Internship Program.

Regional Finalists

Participants will receive mentorship from Schneider Electric experts to polish their proposals and make it to the Grand Finale!

Women in Energy Award

One all-female team from the semi-finals will win the ladies in Energy Award, securing an area within the finals and cash prize of USD $1,000.

How to apply ?

Applicants can follow the below steps to apply for the Go Green in the City Challenge 2019.

Step 1: Click Here to visit the challenge website and click on ‘Participate’

Step 2: Sign up by filling your details and create an account.

Step 3: Select the challenge category to work on with your teammate.

Step 4: Finally Submit your application.

Note: Applicant must register for the competition as an individual. However, to submit a full application you must also register as a team of two.

Selection Procedure

PHASE I

A selection jury of Schneider Electric managers will select regional semi-finalists(10 – 15 teams chosen per Region). All Initial Applications are evaluated on the same basis.
The most important selection criteria are :-

  • Innovativeness
  • Feasibility
  • Presentation quality
  • Sustainable impact

PHASE II

Each team qualified for Phase II will be assigned a mentor from the Schneider Electric team. The mentor will coach the team and help them to evolve their synopsis.

PHASE III

A new jury, composed of Schneider Electric managers, will select up to 10 of the most promising projects from the previously selected set for Phase II.
The most important judging criteria include:-

  • Feasibility
  • Presentation quality
  • Sustainable impact

PHASE IV

Once Schneider Electric has reviewed the participant synopses, the top 10 teams will be announced. These teams will be flown to Barcelona, Spain to participate in the finals in September 2019.

A final jury panel, composed of Schneider Electric’s executive leaders, will judge the final presentations.

  • Application phase:- 2 January – 25 May 2019
  • Regional semi-finals:- 27May-14 June 2019
  • Mentoring & Regional Finals:- 19 June-23 August 2019
  • Preparation Phase:- 29 August-28 September 2019
  • Grand Finale:- 1 – 5 October 2019
